Poverty in the East End of London is notorious, dating back to the days of Charles Dickens. For centuries East London has been a landing place for new immigrants, for people on the margins, for people trying to get on their feet. This has not been without tension. Tower Hamlets has some of the highest levels of child poverty in the UK, with 9 of the 16 most deprived neighborhoods in the UK being located in the borough, all having child poverty rates of above 50% - (‘End Child Poverty’ 2014).
The InnerCHANGE London team was launched in 2007 by two families who relocated to the Borough of Tower Hamlets. Since then the team has grown and is now spread across 2 locations in East London, living & serving amongst a predominantly Bangladeshi-Muslim community.
The team in London makes disciples of Jesus using prayer, Discovery Bible Studies & Community Meals as tools to reach those who are on the margins of society, and unlikely to attend local church activities.
