The vision of the Outer Circle is to invite the lonely, the outcast, and the wanderer into restoration of their entire being by drawing them to Christ, bringing them into community, giving them what we have, and by being their friends.

For the past 12 years the Outer Circle has ministered among the traveling street youth of the Haight Ashbury neighborhood in a variety of ways including street outreach, hospitality, discipleship, and traveling. We continue to pursue these youth in whatever ways we feel like God is calling us.

San Francisco: San Dimas Apprenticeship 2013-2014

An apprenticeship with the San Dimas team means committing to a ministry of tough love to gangbangers, addicts, dealers, juvenile delinquents, and teenage mothers. Apprentices will spend a lot of time visiting youth in Juvenile Hall, playing pool in the garage of our home, & just hanging out over a meal. They will need to be ready to jump in on whatever spontaneous activity comes up in the moment!

South Africa Apprenticeship (3 Years) 2013-2016

A three year cross cultural experience as a missionary living in a poor community. The apprentice will learn the local language and will go through the InnerCHANGE curriculum alongside the team. The location is in a township outside the city of Pretoria.

Guiding young men into Godly manhood by:

  • Spending time out in the neighborhood building relationships with young men. This includes spending time out on the streets of our community, reaching out to the young men who hang out there.
  • Mentoring/Discipling young men, both individually and possibly as a group.
  • Supporting the efforts of the staff by assisting them in youth development and community organizing.

    Minneapolis Apprenticeship 2013-2014

    The Minneapolis team has been in existence for 18 years. Over those years we have had many expressions of ministry as the composition of the team has changed. The one consistent thread that has tied the ministry efforts together has been our longing to establish new, simple churches among the poor. Apprentices will be involved in exploring ways in which God may use them to open new avenues for service and building relationships. Apprentices will live in the Phillips neighborhood of Minneapolis in close proximity to other team members.
